Despite its tiny size, a flea is an insect that is equally irritating to your family members, you and the pets in your household. Considering the fact that female fleas lay around 5 eggs per day it is small wonder that they absolutely contaminate your household and take over you life. Thus you can be absolutely sure that for every single flea that you can see there are ten more that you don’t.

A single flea is known to bite almost 400 times on any given day and refuse to be eradicated through swatting since they can jump around, being minuscule. Therefore, this process is completely useless in getting rid of fleas because you simply cannot capture them. They infect the house, you and as for your pet which they are sure to severely infected, they lead as a cause of anemia apart from the usual tapeworms. Your pet animal may even fall prey to an allergic form of dermatitis besides the ordinary rashes and all this is merely preamble to excessive loss of hair or fur and skin infections.

When it comes to getting rid of fleas, remember not to procrastinate, especially since they breed very quickly and become a nuisance within a very short time period. A basic three-step process of extermination ought to be a good method of flea control. Start cleaning with the outdoors and move into the house after this. The final step is to sanitize your pet animal and all this should be absolutely effective in getting rid of fleas.

Your best bet of killing the fleas is to keep dry and hygienic surroundings which get plenty of sunlight, because fleas cannot survive in such a scenario. You can keep you garden and yard free from fleas through the use of several different methods. But make sure to research the virtues and vices of using toxic chemicals and other forms of medication. Your vet is sure to come up with the best flea medication for the pet as well as tell you what to use for the flea control. Remember, flea collars are effective only till the pet actually acquires fleas. Therefore, you will be required to choose from the various other options such as medicated shampoos for flea control, and other flea treatments which result in the sterilization of flea eggs and are thereby very effective.

Since there exists a pronounced flea season, you would be best advised to take up protective measures before the commencement of this period. Use a flea collar on the pets, keep the place where they rest or sleep clean and sanitized and remember to make sure the outdoors are clean as well. For those of you who are adverse to flea collars, making use of the available topical medicines is also a good idea. Make sure you are well-protected against the constant pestilence of fleas.

The components Permethrin and Imidacloprid are both contained in Advantix flea control. These elements, when combined together, can be very effective in the following ways:

    * Upon being reapplied every 14 days, it results in extermination and control of paralysis ticks.
    * Eradicate fleas – within 5 minutes of feeding on the pet the fleas will die and within the next 20 minutes all larvae will be exterminated. 98 to 100% of the fleas are completely eradicated 12 hours after Advantix has been applied on the dog.
    * Repulse and exterminate mosquitoes and other sand insects.
    * Reduces incidence of Flea allergy Dermatitis (FAD).
    * Keep lice under check.

Advantix Flea control for DogsPresentation and Application

Advantix flea medication is available in packs containing 3 or 6 ampules and 4 different sizes of packets for different types of dogs. You can apply this onto the skin between the shoulder plates of your dog directly and for bigger dogs you can apply it on various different areas.

Advantix Flea Medication continues to work even after you’ve bathed your dog, or it has swam or gotten wet in the rain since the medicine clings on the layer of fat (lipid) present on the dog’s skin.

Measures for Safety

You can use Advantix  flea treatment on a dog that is over 7 weeks old as well on dogs which are pregnant or undergoing lactation. Advantix flea treatment is not completely absorbed. After the dog has been medicated there will be no signs of permethrin in its blood since it will be found only in the layer of fat on the skin. Because of the Permethrin, in some cases there is seen to be a slight numbness or irritation in the area on which it has been applied. But this subsides within the next 24 – 48 hours and there are no lasting effects at all.

Warning: Not to be used on Cats

Due to their physiological conditions being totally different the metabolism of a cat does not support Permethrin. If there are dogs as well as cats in your home, you should keep the cats separate from the dogs for at least 12 hours after you have applied the medicine. Following this, they can be allowed to play or lie down together but if the cat is in the habit of grooming the dog then you must look for different means of flea medication.
