Dangers of the Flea
Fleas can be a big problem for any pet owner. The flea is a blood sucking parasite that belongs to the insect order called Siphonaptera. Their biggest claim to fame is that fleas were the cause of the “bubonic plague”, or Black Death, that claimed over two hundred million victims in the fourteenth century. Obviously, they are a much more minor threat now, but anyone who’s had their house infested with fleas can tell you that it is a very serious problem that can be very hard to rid yourself of. Fleas can move and jump very fast and they are covered with bristles and combs which help them cling to their host. They can also transfer hosts very easily, meaning that if your pet gets fleas, those fleas can easily transfer to your skin, as they use humans as hosts just like cats or dogs. Once a flea attaches itself to its host, it lives off of that hosts blood which it acquires by a sawing or biting motion of the mouth parts. This can be more than irritating. Once a hosts reaction to the flea’s saliva sets in, it can cause very intense itching sensations and a wheal will form around each puncture site. The scratching that will then occur can often lead to other infections, such as papular urticaria, especially in children. As you can see, fleas can lead to many serious problems that many of us don't know about.
Infestation of Fleas
A lot of people are not aware of just how quickly their house can become full blown infested by fleas. It is certainly a very quick process. If you have ten female fleas in your house, then by the end of just one short month those females can generate approximately two-hundred and sixty-seven thousand more fleas, in many cases more than that. Also, the general rule is that for every fully developed flea that you discover on your pet, there are probably about ten more fleas in the developing process. This is also what makes it so difficult to rid your household of fleas. Just because you have already gotten rid of all the adults, that doesn't mean your problem is over. There will usually still be larvae waiting to hatch.
Flea Season & Flea Medication
Most people have at least heard of the term "flea season". This is when the outside temperature is between sixty-five and eighty degrees, and the humidity is someplace between seventy-five and eighty-five percent. These are the ideal weather conditions in which fleas can thrive. Flea season does not usually last for a long period of time because of the specific conditions. However, this is the time when you need to be especially aware of your pet and whether they are attracting fleas or not. You will also want to get your pet flea medication.
Flea Medication - Duogard Line-On

One very good, effective medication for dogs that is available to buy is called Duogard Line-On flea medication. One vial of Duogard flea treatment will protect your pet from fleas for five weeks. Not only that, but if your dog already has fleas, Duogard flea treatment will quickly and efficiently kill the adult fleas and hinder those in the larvae stage from developing into adults. This means that you will be taking care of all of the fleas manifesting in your dog's coat, not just the fully developed ones. The active ingredients in this flea medication are Pyriproxyfen and Permethrin. Pyriproxyfen is not and insecticide, but a hormone analogue, and it is completely safe for the pet, humans, and the environment as well. Permethrin quickly kills adult fleas (it takes less than one hour for all adults to be killed), and will continue to repel them for the specified five week period. The unique line on application allows the active ingredients to be absorbed (and diffused) very quickly also. Plus, since the ingredients attach themselves to the skin so well, it makes the medicine quite water resistant. This means it will not wear off or fade away during routine animal care procedures, such as bathing. With Duogard Line-On flea medication, you will not have to worry about fleas anymore.
If your dog has ever had a problem with fleas, then you know how important it is to have a good flea medication. Duogard Line-On flea control is a very effective treatment that should be in every dog owner's household. If you have been using a flea control product that you are not completely satisfied with, or perhaps you haven't been using any flea control treatment at all, it is time to start a Duogard Line-On flea treatment.
